Does low income equal no college?

Studies have shown that students from the bottom 50 percent of the income distribution comprise just 14 percent of the undergraduate population at the United States’ most competitive universities. Do you believe that high-achieving low income students are being unfairly excluded from high quality universities because it is assumed that they cannot afford the tuition? Please explain why you agree or disagree with this statement.

  1. Yes. I believe that students with low income are not very likely to get into a prestigious institution because of the high expenses of these colleges. Even if there is a very talented, intelligent student with the skill to be CEO of a business, or a unique politician, or a doctor, or anyone else that could have a great influence on todays society if they are not supported financially by their family there chances of getting a high end job are slim. This is because superb education in America is ridiculously expensive and it is limiting our country of great innovators and idealists.
