Gasoline Prices

Gasoline and fuel prices are all "set". Not controlled by supply and demand how many other thing do you think are rigged in the modern world.

  1. Many medical supplies and drug manufacters charge 1000% more than they do in there european counterparts because often times they can and arent reckoned with. These kind of buisness malpractices line some people's poickets and empty others. If we cannot negotiate with these kind of buisnesses it becomes impossible for a free market to exist. So until someone can undercut the 'big guys' we will continue to suffer the consquences of these buisnesses.

  2. I do not neccessarily believe that products are rigged, but I do believe that there is alot of price gouging in the world. Price gouging is when businesses take advantage of people by increasing prices during a state of emergency. This occurs alot in the U.S, like when hurricane Katrina hit the gulf coast. People desperately needed food, water, and electricity so a man bought 19 generators and headed down there. He tried to sell the generators at double the price he bought them for. He was arrested soon after. This is just one of the examples of an incident like that but there are plenty of other ones. The government has tried to crack down on these people and businesses but it raises a question. Is this a ethical or moral issue?

  3. In the modern world things like shoe prices are rigged because its hard to find some for less than 30$. I don't think this is fair because everyone can't afford to have expensive shoes and provide for their family too. I also dont think that it is fair that marketers price gouge even if thousands have been affected by a natural disaster. For example if a hurricane hits a city. Sufferers from the incident shouldn't have to pay more than standadrd price because they were affected by an event out of there control. I do not believe that all prices are rigged. I just believe that prices are adjusted accordingly to how much they are needed by the people. Like when winter time is arriving the demand for big, winter coats go up so companies price gouge knowing that the items will be necessary for families.

  4. I agree with ed and ricardo when they say it isnt rigged prices but there is stuff that is priced badly. like edward said price gouging is a very big thing and its a huge problem you notice it in disasters like a time when i was younger there was a very big black out and people were sellling gtas for very high prices becasue alot of the gas staions were not open and so the demand went up and people set the prices very high.
